Supercrawl Adds Sheepdogs, PUP & Even More Music

With just four weeks to go until Supercrawl, we're thrilled to announce a new slate of musical talent for the free arts & music festival, taking place September 8-10, 2017 along James Street North in Hamilton, Ontario. 

New headliners unveiled include platinum-certified Saskatoon rockers The Sheepdogs, whose members Ewan and Shamus Currie will also be bringing their eclectic new side project BROS to Supercrawl. 

Additional headlining acts include punk dynamos PUP, in a rare Ontario appearance amid a run of west coast USA dates. The Toronto band has racked up two Polaris nominations, three JUNO nominations, a 2017 SOCAN Songwriting Prize and untold thousands of road miles thanks to its tireless touring regime, and promises to be a high-energy highlight of Supercrawl 2017.

The Sheepdogs and PUP join a roster of previously announced headliners that includes Sam Roberts Band, Blackie & the Rodeo Kings, Tanya Tagaq and John K. Samson.

Additional Supercrawl performers unveiled include Arts & Crafts recording artists and soulful Vancouver indie rockers Belle Game, local heavies Black Collar Union (collaborating with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra), shoegazey four-piece Reader (formerly known as Good Anya), Mohawk College's classic R 'n' B revivalists Rhythm Express and alt-funk outfit 3:1, winners of the 2017 Burlington YMCA Band Battle. 

They will join a roster of performers that includes The Acorn, Art Pop Ensemble, Bill & the Art Crawlers, Jessie Bower, BROS, Basia Bulat, Dearly Beloved, Dan Edmonds, Family of Things, Groove Machine, Jordan Haller, Hamilton Children’s Choir, Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, Hamilton Youth Steel Orchestra, Harrison, Harrow Fair, Hello Harvard, Holy Data, Jambassadors, Julie & the Wrong Guys, The Kents, Kroy, Letters to Lions, Lone Rhu, The Medicine Hat, Megative, Mother Tareka, Mountain of Wolves, Persons, Kelly Prescott, Poor Nameless Boy, Rarity, Ginger St. James, Andy Shauf, Skirt Check, Steve Strongman, The Vaudevillian, Voodoo Glow Skulls, White Cowbell Oklahoma, Thompson Wilson, and Donovan Woods.

On the festival weekend, Supercrawl's partner venues will expand the variety even further. 

This Ain’t Hollywood (345 James St. N.) will host a sold-out (!) evening with party rock  supergroup Dwayne Gretzky and yacht rock charmers Skiffs, as well as what promises to be an AYCE banquet of debauched art-damaged tunes in a gig headlined by two-time Polaris nominee and malt liquor inspiration B.A. Johnson, with support from high-power local gutter punks Flesh Rag, iconoclastic post-punk collective Pucumber Sasssquatch Family BandPeterborough garage rockers Beef Boys, and psych-surf group The White Crowleys

Mills Hardware (95 King St. E.) will showcase a Paper Bag Records showcase featuring sets from indie folk artists The Acorn, Young Rival frontman and indie pop auteur Aron D’Alesio, and bedroom electronic artist Lou Canon.

Additional musical announcements for festival partner venues Club Absinthe and Mulberry Coffeehouse will be made shortly, along with the full Supercrawl music schedule. 

Further announcements regarding visual and performance art, fashion shows and handmade vendors, food trucks and family programming, talks and afterparties, circus spectacle and more will arrive in the next two weeks.
