Supercrawl Packs the Runway with Indie Fashion

In 2017, Supercrawl’s fashion programming will cover three days and showcase a wide array of styles and visions in the Makers Market Fashion Tent (Murray at James North). 


Surveying women’s fashion across the centuries, "The History of Fashion" will feature models in period garments, and look at the evolution of clothing, beauty, and its perception in society. The showcase is hosted by Madison Watson. Fri Sept 8 / 6:45pm  

The opening night of Supercrawl also brings with it a Local Brand Showcase featuring Foreign Waves, GIRLSWITHGUNZ and True Hamiltonian. Foreign Waves’ designers aim to create a line that is as individual as it is inclusive, taking inspiration from street fashion and giving it an international twist. Inspired by the wonders of pop culture, fashion and film, GIRLSWITHGUNZ is an original streetwear apparel collection noted for its unique feminist viewpoint. True Hamiltonian has forged a brand identity around clothing that connects to Hamiltonians' pride of place. Fri Sept 8 / 8:30pm 


Hamilton’s Blackbird Studios is a women's designer clothing and accessories brand headed by designers Kerry Wade & Lynn Bebee and their creative team. Blackbird’s one-of-a-kind pieces and short run collections are show-stoppers and conversation starters. Not to be missed. Sat Sept 9 / 12:45pm  

Catherine 'Kit' Smulders is a new fashion designer in the Hamilton area and principal of Kitster Creations. Her first collection, Sport and Pretty, is made up of fun, colourful sportswear and activewear for men and women with attractive prints and colours. Sat Sept 9 / 1:10pm

Rosalie Wynne Intimates is passionate about creating intimate wear that fits your unique body. Each piece has been carefully designed, cut, and sewn in Hamilton. Owner-designer Rosalie Loney takes pride in attention to detail, quality and care that goes into each piece she creates. Sat Sept 9 / 2:00pm 

HeyHey & Co. is a custom clothing design company specializing in custom women’s fashion and swimwear, as well as a popular line of custom designs that include dance, pole, yoga, and activewear for all body types. Sat Sept 9 / 2:40pm  

Zander is a creative division and fashion label drawing influence from youth subculture and street fashion. Committed to delivering provide high quality, style specific apparel, content, and design with urban flair. Sat Sept 9 / 3:45pm  

Cray Gal (designer Cynthia Johnman) has created an exciting collection incorporating denim and chain into every outfit, using upcycled materials to make pieces pop. Johnman will be jumping from the Supercrawl runway into the Fashion Design program at Ryerson University. Sat Sept 9 / 4:15pm

Hamilton-based The Thrifty Designer aims to reuse, recycle, repurpose, and repair quality used ladies and mens clothing — reviving finds by adding trim, lace, leather and fur, giving them new life.​ Sat Sept 9 / 5:15pm  

Lissa Hill Leather is a line that brings together the designer’s personal passions for motorcycles, leather, and rock and roll. Hill’s focus is on women riders, creating well-fit leathers that look feminine while offering protection from the road. Sat Sept 9 / 5:55pm 

Hamilton’s Mallory Gosselin, the namesake creator of Designs by Mallory, will be showcasing her FW2017 ready to wear collection at Supercrawl. Luminous Lotus was inspired by old Japanese watercolour paintings. Sat Sept 9 / 7:15pm  

Marca College is the only L’Oreal concept school in Canada. With 30 years of established credibility and four of the largest state-of-the-art campuses across Southern Ontario, Marca offers students the chance to learn the newest trends from experienced educators along with additional training with L’Oreal Professionnel, Matrix Canada, Pivot Point International and Dermalogica. They'll showcase that expertise in a hair showcase at Supercrawl 2017. Sat Sept 9 / 7:40pm

The Eye of Faith co-founders Paul Heaton and Aaron Duarte strive to create unique, one of a kind, handmade pieces that are sure to turn heads and keep your style game ahead of the pack. Sat Sept 9 / 9:00pm 


Aggy Power is a fashion design graduate perfecting her craft in cosplay, which allows her to combine her love for fashion and nerd culture. She returns to Supercrawl with a fun and colourful cosplay showcase that taps every form of fandom imaginable. Sun Sept 10 / 1:00pm 

Cha Nimke Nagwagin Kwe is an Indigenous artist and youth advocate. As a visual/textile artist much of her work is focused around themes of identity, belonging and the teachings of the strawberry. She will be showcase Indigenous culture through a dance demonstration and talk. Sun Sept 10 / 3:00pm
