Poesy

Born in Hantsport, Nova Scotia, Poesy eventually relocated to small-town Ontario, and began the somewhat nomadic journey that would influence her music in years to come. Poesy penned her first song at the age of 9, and at 14, visited New York City for the first time which sparked a fire in her. She set out to pursue her music on a grander stage. Eventually, Poesy found her way to London, Ontario where she completed a degree in English and Creative Writing at Western University. This would not only influence her songwriting abilities, but inspire the meaning of her name — an archaic word for poetry. It was here that she worked with fellow bandmate, Patrick Dal Cin, to record and produce her debut EP The Spotless Mind. Since then, Poesy has been making a name for herself on Canada's music scene, sharing the stage with acts such as Hollerado, Sloan, FeFe Dobson and Mother Mother. Although she considers herself heavily influenced by the legends of the ‘70s and ‘80s, Poesy is a distinctly modern artist, melding the emotional expression of her generation with the grandeur of classic rock. In 2017, Poesy was selected as one of the 30 chosen artists on the new CTV music series The Launch, where she had the opportunity to work with Canadian producer and songwriter, Stephan Moccio and award-winning artist, Fergie. Poesy was chosen as the artist to release Stephan Moccio & Lindy Robbins’ hit song “Soldier of Love”. The song climbed to the No. 1 slot on iTunes Canada after POESY’s episode aired, and her live performance in particular was show-stopping. Since then, she’s been creating new music everyday, borrowing pieces of her favourite artists and finding new ways to express her messages. “I don’t believe in pigeonholing myself into just one thing," she says. "Music, just like people, should be dynamic and push boundaries.”
