B.A. Johnston

Cross-Canada touring juggernaut B.A. Johnston is a highly spirited Hamilton musician whose songs are unabashedly honest, uniquely quirky and cover controversial topics such as: deep frying, pirates, poutine, video games and love. He has released seven albums and has spent more than a decade touring the country in his mother's Toyota Previa minivan, providing Canadians with a truly wild performance. Along the way he has shared the stage with acts like The Rheostatics, The Constantines, Cuff the Duke, The Silverhearts, The Guthries, and Joel Plaskett. Last year he scored a spot on the Polaris Prize longlist with his album Shit Sucks (Mammoth Cave), recorded with Mike O’Neil (TUNS, Inbreds), with help from Nathan Doucet (Crosss), Adam Mowery (Grubbies) and Laura Peek (from Nintendo and Stairway), as well as stalwart collaborator Stephen Kelly and great beats from Stephan and Nathan Pilon from Windom Earle.  B.A. has played such high profile schmoozefests like Halifax Pop Explosion, SappyFest (Sackville), Close to the Coast (Charlottetown), and Ranchfest (Vancouver). He hopes one day to be rich and famous, buy a deep fryer for his bedroom, and finally dance with a girl when "Stairway to Heaven" is the last song of the night.

On Sat Sept 15, Supercrawl partner venue This Ain't Hollywood hosts B.A. Johnson with Get Off The Cop, Cross Dog, Wax Mannequin, and Roach Clip. The show carries a cover charge.
